Monument to the arrival of the famous sumo wrestler. Taiho was born in Sakhalin to a Japanese mother and a Ukrainian father and disembarked from the Ogasawara-maru in Wakkanai in 1945 because his mother was seasick. The ship was sunk by a submarine the next day.
