The history of the Marienberg Church dates back to the 15th century. It was built between 1474 and 1478 after the original church was destroyed by fire. The church at Marienberg was continually rebuilt, expanded and rebuilt in 1760. Abbot Emmanuel II Mayr commissioned the court mason master Mayr (1723-1771) and the Munich painter Martin Heigl, who decorated the church with magnificent frescoes, which mainly had Mary as their theme.
