In the area of the gorge-like stream incision, blocks of quartz conglomerate form a block flow. On the upper slope of the valley, the quartz conglomerate stands with a 2 m high steep step. Erosion and outflow of the underlying quartz residual gravel creates a hollow, which causes further quartz conglomerate blocks to break and slide. The block flow formation established in the Pleistocene periglacial area can thus continue to progress to a lesser extent in recent times. (Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU))
