Garrensee, Plötscher See, and Schwarze Kuhle are predominantly surrounded by forest areas. The nutrient-poor Garrensee is home to European sea holly and lake quillwort. Schwarze Kuhle, a bog lake, is surrounded by a wide belt of floating grass. The valley channel between Plötscher See and Schwarze Kuhle was drained by a ditch until the beginning of the 21st century. It was reforested with non-native spruce trees. In 2001, the channel was renaturalized. The ditch was closed, restoring wet conditions to the channel. In the following years, an alder-willow swamp forest developed here.Marsh plants such as marsh calla lily, bladderwort, and floating sedge also reestablished themselves. Many of the water bodies feature a diverse and structurally diverse range of pondweed and floating-leaf vegetation.dewiki.de/Lexikon/Salemer_Moor_mit_anbindenden_W%C3%A4ldern_und_Seen
