40.2 km long, the river has its source in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin (Oise), and flows from east to west. It waters the town of Senlis, as well as the park of the Château de Chantilly where it is channeled, and flows into the Oise at Gouvieux, on the edge of Villers-sous-Saint-Leu, at an altitude of 30 m.Almost its entire course is located in the Oise-Pays de France regional natural park.
