Historic site with the ruins of a 16th century monastery and the home of the famous writer Gunnar Gunnarsson. Built in 1939, it is one of Iceland's most historic buildings, bequeathed to the nation by the writer in 1948. The Gunnar Museum offers exhibitions and events of various kinds about local culture and nature. A personal guided tour is guaranteed. In summer, the Klausturkaffi restaurant offers daily lunch and a cake buffet with local specialties.
