A natural landmark is the nature reserve Schnakenpohl in Varl (6.69 ha). It was prepared in 1936, making it one of the oldest in Westphalia. With its special flora, the heather gives an impression of how the boggy and heathed Rahdener Land looked like before it was cultivated by humans.
