Since the municipality/district has not been able to organize a cycle path between the two towns for years, this is probably the best way to get from A to B. The next question is whether the sometimes muddy path is safe, and it is no better in the dark. At weekends when the weather is sunny, there are some people out and about during the day, but it is certainly not a good alternative to a cycle path. This means that more accidents will probably happen on the road between the towns.

This is meant ironically, of course, but it is probably better to take this route than on the road where cars sometimes overtake at very close distances.
