Cycling
The oldest drinking water reservoir in Saxony - which is also the third oldest in Germany - is located in a wooded area in the Chemnitz district of Einsiedel. It was built from 1891 to 1894 from quarry stone. It serves as a reservoir for the Einsiedel waterworks and is connected to the dams Neunzehnhain I and II and Saidenbach by means of pipelines, tunnels, canals, artificial trenches and natural watercourses. Dammed here is the Stadtguttalbach, which contributes but by its small size only slightly to the amount of water of the dam.
