Krabbesholm was originally called Skovshoved and arose from the Nørre- and Sønderskovshoved farms. After unclear ownership, it is certain that Iver Krabbe took over the farm in 1554 and immediately afterwards began building a new main building. It was completed around 1555, and the property thus came to be called Krabbesholm. Its current appearance is characterized by extensive changes in the 1750s.
