The fire station with wooden hose tower was built in 1925. It was used on Schiffbauer Strasse, just a few metres from the canal bridge, to house the technical fire service equipment. The hoses were hung up in the wooden tower to dry, hence the name hose or drying tower. With the expansion of technology and increasing quality requirements, the building soon proved to be too small. Its use ended in 1964, when the former garages of the mill on Alte Poststrasse were inaugurated as a fire station. Today it is a branch of the Müllroser Heimatmuseum and behind its large gates shows evidence of the Müllroser fire service as well as the history of the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal, its relationship with the city and its three former shipyards, which are only remembered by the street name.
