The Tobacco Bridge (Tannery Bridge) spans the Erenik River in the south of Gjakova. The bridge connects Gjakova with the southern Albanian villages and towns such as Bajram Curri, Shkodra and Kukësi. It was built in the 17th century by wealthy tannery families. The Tobacco Bridge (Tannery Bridge) is 127 meters long and 4.03 meters wide and is among the 10 largest bridges of the Middle Ages in areas inhabited by Albanians. The bridge consists of 7 arched barrel vaults and semicircular arches with spans of 14-16 meters. After the implementation of the conservation project, the bridge was made accessible only to pedestrians. It is built of ashlar stones and decorated with carved ornaments. It was rebuilt during the wars, however, in a later phase, conservation works were carried out and the bridge was restored to its original state
