Lilienfeld Abbey is an important Cistercian monastery in Lower Austria and the largest medieval monastery in Austria. It was founded in 1202 by Leopold VI and impresses with its Gothic architecture. The monastery church is one of the largest Gothic churches in Austria with magnificent stained glass windows and an impressive high altar.The abbey is located in the Traisental, at the foot of the Muckenkogel, surrounded by an idyllic natural landscape. It is an ideal starting point for cycling tours, including the Muckenkogel mountain tour, which offers spectacular views.
