Tips
According to the adjacent plaque, copper ore was smelted here until 1607, hence the mill's name. From 1607 onward, the mill had three wooden waterwheels for grinding grain. In 1920, a Francis turbine was installed to generate electricity.

The Schmelzmühle is located directly on the Lahn Cycle Path. The path passes right by it. A 64 kW Kaplan turbine has been installed since 2007 and continues to generate green electricity.
