Built in 1763/1870. Stone octagon with wooden structure.
The stone octagon was raised in 1870. Molen Edens is a gallery mill (Stellingmolen), Bovenkruier (top-turning mill). Used as a grist mill and today as a grain mill. 2 parallel millstones, sail blades, codend.
The packing house next to the mill was demolished in 1976. The Edens grain mill is the oldest and highest windmill in the province of Groningen. The mill was extensively restored in 1985. In 2006, the mill was raised by 3 m in order to have enough wind for the windmill due to the higher buildings in the area. The impression of 2 entrance gates one above the other is not misleading. The elevations at the foot of the windmill, with the structure of the wooden octagon barely changed, mean that the mill does not appear proportional.
