In the period from 1941 to 1942, there was a camp for several hundred Jewish prisoners in Gostomek. They were employed in the construction of the Królewiec-Berlin highway. Several dozen of them were murdered by the Nazis and buried in graves scattered around the area.
Two Poles were murdered in the forest near Gostomek - Rudolf Lass and Władysław Rogala, the son of the famous Kashubian activist Tomasz Rogala, who after World War I, together with Antoni Abraham, went to Versailles in order to unite Kashubia with Poland.
