Special events in the Hüttertal,
for example, the devastating tornado on May 24, 2010,
have led to changes in the landscape. This includes impacts on the flora and buildings.

To commemorate this day, the monumental sculpture
"Tornado Man" was sawn out of the trunk
of a fallen oak tree by our association member Dirk Hantschmann in 2011. This sculpture
toppled in 2022 due to its now rotten rootstock and was
re-erected next to its previous location on a new foundation in 2023.

The Hüttertal Radeberg Friends Association
e. V. was awarded the City of Radeberg's Medal of Honor for services to the city. Among other things, the association's efforts in clearing up the storm damage of May 2010 were highlighted.
