From 1876 onwards, the communities had to indicate the division of the state of Württemberg into Landwehr battalions and company districts on their town signs. This meant that the reservists always knew where to report in an emergency. These signs are still preserved in many communities and represent a historical testimony to the time of the Kingdom of Württemberg.
