The same stories are told about stones with holes as about stones with feet: the holes are left by dancing, weddings, devils coming to the human world from hell, etc. For occasional descriptive stones with holes in the 20th c. a sacred - religious meaning was also given: "The stone is still considered sacred, people use it for healing by breaking off a piece from the stone." Eyes were treated with rainwater collected in stone holes. In addition, some stones with holes are associated with sacred places, including the Laukagali stones.
