The name of the settlement probably comes from the first settler. His name "August" was pronounced "Jałgust" in folk culture, which could later turn into the name of the village of Jajosty. Soon, the "Augusta" settlement was joined by other pioneers who started clearing the forest in this area and built the first houses on the resulting clearing.
