Gran Canaria has some spectacular views to offer but everything has its price, and almost all the roads are steep ramps.

This section is one of the few on the island where you can enjoy both beautiful views of the valleys and an almost zero slope. If your legs ask for rest but you want to keep rolling, this is the section for you. You can start (or end) in Maspalomas with a drink.

Whoever comes to Gran Canaria as a racing cyclist, usually knows what to expect: mountains, passes, sunshine! ☀️🏜🏞☀️But a small, flat gem lies just outside Maspalomas: the eastern entrance to the Ayagaures dam. Here it is really leisurely with ca. 1 - 2% slope for about 9km there. A dream for downhill legs that want a little recovery ride.

Magnificent fincas with flowers en masse line the way. A nice experience to pedal for a long time.

Before the switchbacks you can either turn around and jet back or you take the approximately 300hm high to the viewpoint under the wheels.
