The Basilica of Superga is the second highest point on the Turin hill, after the Vittoria lighthouse on the Maddalena hill. There are many paths that go up to the basilica. Departing from Turin (Sassi) there are routes 26, 27, 28 and 29, from San Mauro routes 60, 62, 65, 66, and others from Baldissero. It is also possible to start from Pino Torinese following the path that runs along the panoramic road.

The Basilica is dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, whose wooden statue is preserved in the Cappella del Voto.
On the hill, since 1461, well before the Basilica was built, there was a small church, a parish for the local faithful. At that time the hill was "a sharp mountain, and at the end of it a church with three altars located in the same place where the church of the Royal Congregation of Superga is now located, but in a higher site", dedicated to the Madonna but also to St. Anthony and St. Grato.
