The Basilica of Superga is the second highest point on the Turin hill, after the Vittoria lighthouse on the Maddalena hill. There are many paths that go up to the basilica. The Basilica is dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, whose wooden statue is preserved in the Cappella del Voto.

On the hill, since 1461, well before the Basilica was built, there was a small church, a parish for the local faithful.
