The water from the San and smaller tributaries is dammed behind the 81.8 meter high dam. When full, the reservoir contains 11 million cubic meters of water. The water surface is then 22 square kilometers (2200 hectares). With its 472 million cubic meters of volume (also called 474 million m³), it is the largest reservoir in Poland. The water is up to 60 meters deep. When it was dammed, the villages of Solina, Telesnica Sanna, Horodek, Sokole, Chrewt and a large part of Wolkowyja were flooded. The lake has numerous arms and bays.
