The Radduscher Buschmühle was once operated as a customer mill, the farmers brought the grain and waited for the ground grain or flour. Since the miller had the right to sell alcohol, the wait was probably not too long, because until 1944, brandy, beer, cakes and smaller meals could be sold. In the past, the milling was paid for with the "Metze", a sixteenth of the ground flour. Until 1810, milling was compulsory in the Spreewald, i.e. the farmers were assigned a mill. Severe floods repeatedly hit the mill: in 1926/1927, 1930, 1932, 1939/1940, 1947, 1956.

The legend "The happiness of the poor Buschmühlenbesitzers" reflects the worries and hardships of the millers in the Spreewald. An actual event was the "ghost in the mill" in 1894.
