In April 1568, Saint Teresa obtained permission to found a monastery in Malagón, being the third on her list of foundations.
Malagón was an important crossroads at that time, since the road forked from Toledo to Granada or Córdoba and Seville.

On one of its peaks is the Plaza de los Moros, a high-rise settlement with interesting archaeological remains.
At the foot of this mountain range, next to the Bañuelos River, is the settlement of Malagón el Viejo.
