Water plays a special role in the villa forests. This is particularly evident in winter and spring, when shallow water surfaces form on the forest floor and the moats along the forest paths are richly filled. The large ponds and small ponds in particular are habitats for many animal and plant species. Frogs, toads and newts migrate from the forest to the water bodies in spring to spawn.
