At the crossroads on the bend, already within the Budy glade, stands a peculiar gray-blue roadside cross. Its base is a vertically placed, beautifully preserved cannon barrel with a lock! The cross with the figure of the Lord Jesus was placed in the muzzle of a German 88 mm cannon, the famous eighty-eight, one of the most effective weapons of World War II. In the place where it stands, in the winter of 1945, there was a German artillery position. At dawn on January 17 of that year, a Soviet tank destroyed the German cannon. The residents of Budy pulled the barrel out of the wreck and erected a roadside cross. It is not subject to corrosion, the cannon steel is of excellent quality.
