The church is basically a Gothic building from the end of the 15th century, baroqueized in 1720, and it is historically significant as a frequent residence of Zagreb's bishops in the Middle Ages. It is one of the rare examples of medieval sacred buildings in the area of northern Croatia that were originally built of brick, but not plastered.
