The quarry stopped operating in the 1990s. Upper Devonian limestone was mined here. The walls are up to 10 meters high and almost 150 meters long. For many years it served as a local, illegal dumping ground. Currently, it is not overgrown and traces indicate that it is sometimes visited by motorbikes and quads. This place is known in the scientific world for its interesting folds and faults. Anyone less familiar with tectonics should be interested in interesting mineralization. We can find veins of calcite and pink barite here, as well as, less frequently, copper minerals. In the southwestern part, you can find geodes filled with barite crystals several centimeters long.
