The Megalou Meteorou or Metamorphoseos Monastery is the oldest, largest and most official of all the existing Meteora monasteries today, as its name 'Megalo Meteoro' (Great Meteoro) states. On its imposing rock, it has a dominant position in the monastery group of Meteora.

Route with poor indications. GPS is strongly recommended. There are no food supplies on the trail and very few fountains (only at the monasteries).
