The following is written on the information board at the "Rund Tränk":
The "Rund Tränk" is a round ditch with an island.
1. In the beginning there was only a water hole that was enlarged in a circular shape to accommodate as many livestock as possible. Since the livestock stepped on the edge of the ditch, the ditch had to be dug again and again. The earth from the bank and the mud were thrown into the middle from the outside. An island was created.
2. The local historian Dr. Heinrich Klingler from Klein-Gerau, who died in 2018, suspected that the "Rund Tränk" was one of the tower hill castles built between the 9th and 12th centuries. A round ditch was dug and a hill was built with the earth, on which a wooden tower with palisades was erected. Dr. Klingler assumed, based on a document from the Lorsch Codex from the year 948, that the tower castle stood on the sheep farm of a landowner "von Hirzebach" from Weiterstadt.
