The name of the district Izcuchaca derives from the names of the historic and beautiful lime quarries, which can be derived from two Quechua words: Izcu = lime; Chaca = Brook. Izcuchaca was founded in 1807 with the title ́ ́ Pueblo de la Santa Cruz de Izcuchaca, just south of Conayca.
