Monument dedicated to the wives of sailors, always waiting, and to those who lost their lives at sea

We are at the end of the east pier of the port of Rimini. Here stands the bronze statue of the sailor's bride, a woman, a wife and a mother, scanning the horizon. The body is leaning forward and the gaze is fixed on catching a glimpse, on the horizon, of that boat that will bring its sailor home. The search is marked by the right arm, stretched forward, as if to indicate something in the distance, among the waves. At the woman's feet, clinging to her legs, there are her children, also waiting for their father's return.

The very physiognomy of the statue suggests the search, the hope of return. But even more marked is the feeling of anticipation that appears on the dedication placed on the base of the statue which reads as follows:

“To remember the women who waited on the docks of the port for their men to return from work and the sea. So as not to forget those who did not return"

Waiting is the prevailing feeling in this dedication, that wait experienced by the wives but also by the children for the return of their spouses and fathers. And a tribute to those who unfortunately never returned.

The work is a masterpiece by Umberto Corsucci, who, commissioned by the Sea Workers Cooperative, created the statue of the sailor's bride in 2010.

Very hidden behind the Ferris wheel, about a kilometer behind the Rockisland House, is the statue. Go there when the sunset begins
