Historic quarry from Iberian-Roman times. In the 16th to 18th centuries, blocks were cut out of the rocks here. The blocks were used to build churches and towers and can still be found in buildings in the area today. The resulting (water) basins can still be clearly seen today.

In the 16th century, stones were extracted from the plateau by the sea for the construction of the buildings in Benissa. This is described on a plaque as part of the Paseo ecologica (ecological coastal path). Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of it, so I'm a little lacking in detail - and I couldn't find any more information about it on the Internet. In any case, it's worth going down. The resulting basin and the rock formations invite you to linger a little longer.
