These old forging furnaces here in the Diepmannsbachtal recall the origins of the Bergisches small iron industry. They once belonged to the "Bärenhammer".
In 1560, the Hammer was first mentioned in documents. In 1715, Wilhelm Diederichs was the sole owner. The Honsberg brothers rebuilt the Hammer in 1746. From around the middle of the 19th century, the refining steel hammer's works were already driven by 9 hp.
