The grounds of Haus Orr included a park, which included a pond with two islands of different sizes. There was probably once a castle on the smaller island.
In the first documented mention in 1264, Orr was referred to as "Urre". In the 13th century, Friedrich von Gyltling was lord of Orr. In 1342, Gobelinus von Udenkoven donated the town's lands to the convent of St. Severin.
The Archbishop of Cologne and the Duke of Jülich-Berg fought over sovereignty from 1576 onwards. Since they shared the high and low jurisdiction, the Orr peasants could not be taxed for a time.
The two-story manor house was built around 1838 by the banker Peter Daniel Koch, according to plans by the Cologne cathedral master builder Ernst Friedrich Zwirner. Koch's heirs sold the complex to Werner Pagenstecher.
After the war, the manor house was still inhabited, but was later abandoned and partially fell into disrepair, so that emergency security measures had to be taken to preserve the building. The remains of the roof and ceilings were removed and anchors were inserted to at least preserve the outer walls. The landscape park became overgrown and the ponds dried out.
Since 2010, the Orr manor house has been carefully revitalized by the new owner. The Orr manor house was renovated and received a new hipped roof and windows in 2013, which means that it can be used again for events organized by the Rittergut Orr e.V. support association.
The tasting garden is right across from Haus Orr. There are very tasty homemade beers here. A stop is possible from May to September from Friday to Sunday
