- today's church stands on the site of an old, smaller church that dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. In 1769, the church was demolished up to the walls of the sanctuary, which form the chapel of today's church. The year of the foundation of the first church - 1221 - is engraved on the stone in the main altar.

- the new, larger church was built by the local count František Xaver Königsegg with his wife Sidonia (née Esterházyová - a well-known family with a family residence in the Dubnica castle) and local parishioners. They built the church for 10 years. At the entrance, in the lower part of the church wall, there is a stone with the year 1770 - that's when the church began to be built. It was consecrated in 1780. The capacity of the old, original church was no longer sufficient for a large number of parishioners, so a new church was built.
