Barracas are stone huts built using dry stone walling technology. This type of construction is very common in the area between Llers and Avinyonet de Puigventós and is linked to the agricultural and demographic expansion in the 18th century, when the Rocabertís, the lords of the place, ceded part of the wasteland to the townspeople for cultivation of vines and olive trees.
