Here the grazing area of the resettled Taurus cattle starts from Friedebach. The project "Forest pasture Uhlstädter Heide" is intended to clear the undergrowth by the settlement of cattle and horses and thus create habitat for the goat and the woodlark. The Taurus cattle are found here since November 2018, Exmoorponys are to follow. The project is said to have cost a total of € 1 million and is funded by grants.

Today were on site and met the herd. Beware, they currently have calves and so they were not so happy to see us and the dogs. We behaved calmly and the dogs were leashed, nevertheless we were expelled from the Leitkuh (?). That made an impression and we had to turn back.

FYI: The project is finished, and there are no more cattle in the area. Most of the electric fences are open. You can roam freely again in the beautiful Uhlstädter Heide ☺️
