The Kortowski experiment (Olszewski's method) - a lake reclamation method, developed and used for the first time in 1956 by Professor Przemysław Olszewski (WSR in Olsztyn) in the eutrophicated Lake Kortowskie (Olsztyn). It consisted in draining the over-fertilized waters of the hypolimnion using a wooden pipe operating on the siphon principle[1]. Water from the hypolimnion was drained to the Kortówka River and then to the Łyna River.
