Named in memory of Marco Simoncelli, a motorcycle rider who died during a MotoGP race, the Santa Monica international circuit is located within the municipality of Misano Adriatico and since 2007 has continuously hosted a round of the MotoGP championship, the San Marino Grand Prix and the Rimini Riviera. It is considered the home GP of Valentino Rossi, who grew up in nearby Tavullia. Furthermore, for a few years the spaces of the racetrack have also hosted the largest Italian bicycle fair, the Italian Bike Festival.
