The current Panigai-Ovio palace, characterized by the three-storey central body surmounted by the tympanum and two symmetrical side wings - the right of which remained unfinished, thus highlighting the pre-existing Renaissance elements - was designed around 1750 by the architect Venetian Piero Checchia, author, among other things, of the Venetian Theater of San Benedetto, the reference theater for performances of serious operas until the birth of La Fenice in 1792. The original project of the Panigai villa is still preserved in the family archive.

The façade is characterized by a large portal and three orders of windows with typical balustraded balconies on the first floor.
The interiors feature eighteenth-century frescoes and retain original furnishings; particularly noteworthy is the ancient kitchen with period equipment and furnishings, as well as ancient books and documents, numerous maps of the territory and the castle and the Statutes that the nobles of Panigai issued in the first half of the 18th century, as regulations of order public.

The toponym Panigai derives from "panico", a graminaceous plant similar to millet whose ear was the emblem of the feudal lords from the beginning, enriched in the 16th century by a chessboard of different colors to distinguish each of the two branches.
