Individual sections of the city walls (Mury miejskie) with defensive towers have still been preserved. A double ring of walls can still be seen at Straży Street, Zacisze Street and Kościelna Street. The city walls are first mentioned in 1316 and then strengthened, expanded and modernized over three centuries. From 1841 onwards, large parts were demolished and the wall ditch was filled in between 1826 and 1867.
