The starting point is the beer garden at Lake De Witt. There is a parking lot diagonally opposite the beer garden (behind the restaurant by the lake). At the end of the parking lot, before you reach the restaurant, a narrow path goes left along the parking lot towards the nature reserve. You then come to a sign that prohibits bicycles from passing through...but pushing is also possible. For about 1.5-2km you then cross a magical land of both flora and fauna. Right next to the path there are great crested grebes etc. breeding on mini islands in the water, herons hunting in the shallow water, iridescent grasses in all shades of green and yellow. Just great! Of course, please be sure to show all consideration for nature...we are just guests there!!! From a lookout tower about halfway there is a view of this magical landscape like something out of a fairy tale
