Shortly after I left my pension at Hinova the first Hundeattacke. It causes my adrenalin level to rise suddenly. I cut off a 2-meter-long stick from a tree to better drive the dogs.
Up to the Serbian border I have 5 more dog attacks, but the stick shows its effect. Often I just have to raise it and the dogs turn off. But sometimes I have to strike so that the critters do not come to my calves. But many dogs only bark, or just lie drowsily in the sun. Still, it's not so relaxing anymore. I drive with increased alertness. The area is boring and the road sometimes very bad. I drive almost only on dry sunflower fields or through small sleepy villages where time has stopped. In addition to the dogs, geese, sheep and even horses run along the roadside. People usually look after me in astonishment, but they all greet back in a friendly way. After 2 hours driving I see a tiny grocery store with two plastic chairs under a covered porch in a small village. I stop and drink 2 coffee, a coke and eat 2 yogurt and all for 2 €. The three women in the shop are very friendly and helpful. We communicate with hands and feet and are very happy.
After a few more miles I cross the border and am back in Serbia and arrive in Negotin a little later.
The owner of the area is hot Bojan and is even friendlier, more attentive and more interested than the three women in the small Romanian village. I feel well and safe and spontaneously decide to spend 2 nights here.
