The Couchez mill in Zarren-Lindestraat was built in 1870 and is named after miller Jan Couchez, who converted an earlier horse mill into a stone corn and oil windmill in 1845.

The Couchez mill is a mill of the 'upper porter' type. It is a stone mill with a height of 25.5 m and has a ground floor and 7 attics. The Couchez mill is therefore one of the highest mills in Belgium. The Couchez mill currently houses a mill museum. This photo was taken after the restoration of 1967-1968. However, this restoration mainly focused on the exterior. The inside continues to deteriorate. In 1995, some necessary interventions were made to protect the mill from further decay. A long restoration period ended in 2003 and the mill was ready to grind again.
