Sculpture at the end of the path from the parking lot

High Tide, Low Tide is a sculpture by Christine Boshier that is located on the shoreline behind Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Art Centre at Lochmaddy. It is part of the Uist Sculpture Trail, which features seven commissioned works by different artists across the islands. The sculpture is made of steel, concrete, and glass and has a hollow interior filled with salt. At high tides, the sea slowly draws the salt from a small opening, creating a dynamic interaction between the sculpture and the environment. The glass particles on the dome reflect the sunlight and resemble salt crystals. The sculpture is meant to reflect its intertidal position and the changing cycles of nature.
