One of the 5 lime kilns that we can find in the Fontanars dels Alforins area, on the so-called Lime Route.
In 1960, the mechanization and industrialization of lime kilns began, and they went from working in small ones, spread across the Fontanars mountains, to working in larger kilns, located in strategic points and separating themselves from the rural area. Thus, in 1990 all the rural ovens had already stopped working.
It has been 25 years, at best, since these kilns were abandoned, but we still find 30 of these calç forns scattered throughout the municipality of Fontanars. Time has not passed in vain, but still, we found five interesting Lime Routes to explore:
