The Old Settlers' Association Park and Rhodham Bonnifield House is as Iowa's oldest existing two-story log house. It was built by Rhodham Bonnifield and his sons in the summer of 1838. Despite falling into disrepair by 1908, an active 'Old Settlers Association' spearheaded the preservation, leading to the dismantling, relocation, and reconstruction of the Bonnifield Log House to the present location. Today it is on a ten-acre tract adjacent to Waterworks Park. Both the log house and the park earned eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
