The St. Mary's Church in Steutz dates back to the 12th century. The Romanesque stone building consisted of a nave and a recessed choir with a straight end. In pre-Reformation times, the chancel was expanded to its current size. After a fire, the church was rebuilt in 1846-49 in the neo-Romanesque style and given the western brick look. Prince Leopold Friedrich of Anhalt-Dessau donated the new baptismal font to the community. The leaded glass windows in the choir from 1906 depict the four evangelists. The two altar windows on the east side with the motifs of the burning bush and Peter's fishing expedition were created in 1995 after the church's most recent renovation was completed. What is remarkable is the war memorial on the outside of the east wall in honor of those who died in the First World War in the style of the 1920s. In 1995 an inscription for the dead of the Second World War was added.
